Bruxism is the term given to tooth grinding and clenching. It can occur whilst you sleep and occasionally whilst you are awake, hence it can go unnoticed by the sufferer.
It can lead to:
- Badly chipped or worn teeth
- Changes in your bite
- Acute or chronic jaw pain and muscle pain
- Ear aches and headaches
- Cracks developing within teeth which can cause fracturing, leading to a tooth requiring an extraction.
We can help resolve this problem by providing a custom bite splint worn at night to prevent premature destruction of teeth and help relieve jaw pain. We can also assist with restoration of worn and chipped teeth to help protect from further damage.
If you have any further questions on tooth grinding or tooth wear, contact our team who will be happy to assist you to arrange an appointment for consultation.
