Teeth Whitening
Brighter and Whiter Teeth
Teeth whitening is a simple, conservative and cost-effective way to dramatically improve your smile and give a more youthful appearance.
Teeth whitening is tailored to your requests from a Hollywood-white to a more natural lightening of teeth. At Rozelle Dental, we have a range of options available from easy to use home whitening kits, to professional in-office whitening treatments.
Many lifestyle factors can discolour your teeth; giving your smile an aged and sometimes unhealthy appearance.
Causes of Discolouration
- decay of teeth or leaking fillings
- discolouration of fillings
- dietary factors including highly coloured foods and beverages (coffee, tea, red wine)
- smoking
- some medications like tetracycline antibiotics during tooth formation
- ageing
At Rozelle Dental our skilled dentists will identify the reason why your teeth are discolouring and discuss whether teeth whitening may be right for you. If not, our experienced dentists will recommend a more suitable cosmetic dental treatment alternative.
Whitening questions:
How does teeth whitening work?
All professionally applied whitening procedures work around the same principle and vary depending on concentration which affects time of whitening. The whitening gels penetrate the tooth structure and neutralise the stains and pigments within. After a period of time they dissipate from the tooth leaving a whiter and brighter smile.
How much does it cost?
We offer a range of effective whitening solutions to cater for various budgets-ranging from $250-$690.
What does In-Office whitening involve?
Our most popular whitening technique can achieve dramatically whiter teeth in 1 hour. Once your teeth have been properly examined, a protective masking agent is applied to cover the gums. The active whitening gel is then applied to your teeth for 2-3 consecutive 10 minute applications and activated by a cool blue light. The whitening gel penetrates the surface of your teeth and remains active for some hours to achieve optimal and stunning whitening results.
What does Home Whitening involve?
Custom made, well-fitted whitening trays are made from impressions taken of your teeth. The whitening gel is placed into the trays and worn for a specific time daily for 1-2 weeks. This will gradually whiten your teeth. Although it is not as instant or convenient as in-office whitening, the take-home kits provide excellent results and is a more cost-effective option.
How long does it last?
Professional teeth whitening is considered a permanent treatment. However, it is subject to lifestyle factors such as the consumption of highly coloured foods, coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. Depending on your lifestyle, you may need to top-up your whitening procedure every so often. We provide these top-up kits at a reduced rate to our patients.
What about sensitivity?
We use a selection of concentrations and techniques that help achieve an optimal whitening result. This helps reduce transient sensitivity that can range from a mild tingle to short sharp pain.
A full examination will determine which whitening procedure would best suit your needs. Depending on how sensitive your teeth are prior to whitening, we may recommend desensitiser application prior to whitening.
Rest assure, that even if you do experience sensitivity, we have solutions on hand to help alleviate it.
